Our goal in this project is to create a public facility with a strong, new identity characterized by its openness to the neighborhood, the town, and the future. We designed the Marcel Pagnol School Complex as a single, entirely new establishment, integrating both the renovated buildings and the extensions, offering students, teachers, and all users of the facility the same high-quality indoor and outdoor spaces. We conceived the project as a school complex, not as the addition of two separate schools, in order to share spaces and resources. Thus, the preschool occupies the existing building dating from 1974. The rest of the program is entirely new construction. The extension wraps around the existing building to complement its existing volume, bringing new coherence to the whole and completely renewing the perception of the public facility.
